He was just a Nigger.

Trayvon Martin, an unarmed teenager shot dead for apparently looking menacing. He left behind a family and a potentially bright future, but don’t worry – he was just a Nigger. Eric Garner, choked to his death for breaking up a fight and no medical team called to the scene in good time, but not to worry – he too was just a Nigger. Mike Brown, shot whilst running away from the police, but considered a threat. But hey, all will be forgotten in a few weeks. He was just a Nigger. Whilst these events took place, society simply carried on as normal, because, well, it was just another Nigger dead.

My heart goes out to the families and friends of Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and the other people that have recently been murdered. I believe strongly that every issue regarding to race relations points back to slavery. Had slavery not occurred, yes racism would exist because where there is diversity there is bound to be conflict, however I doubt it would exist to this extent. There would not be a great divide in superiority and inferiority as determined by slavery, but yes individuals would indeed have some sort of prejudice, but slavery in a sense gave white people the entitlement to feel superior to black people. As a society, we cannot bury our heads under the sand and pretend that these incidents are just isolated cases and that everyone gets along. These are far from isolated cases, and anyone who feels sincerely that there is no racism in our society needs a reality check. Racism isn’t just when someone walks up to you and hurls a racial slur. Racism is Mike Brown, Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner being brutally murdered and the value of their lives being belittled. But hey, they were just Niggers!

These and other similar incidents that have taken place over the past few days are fine examples of how slavery is still somewhat in existence today. Slavery drew the line between the difference between the value of a white life and a black life. Slaves were labelled Niggers because they were viewed as barbaric, savage, primitive, uncivilised and significantly inferior to white people, hence their enslavement. The murders of Niggers were common place during slavery, but no one was ever brought to justice especially in the height of slavery because, well, they were just Niggers. There were plenty more where those came from.

Slavery, in my honest opinion, normalised the belittling of black lives, so much so that this system eventually dessensitised the oppressed black people to the value of a black life. So many black people have subconciously and conciously accepted the ‘Nigger’ label placed upon them and their ancestors, and this is pretty clear when you look at society today. All negative things are closely associated to the black community and what’s even sad is that these negative things are being glorified, by black people. Only Niggers want to be labelled as Niggers, and some ignorant white people think it’s ‘cool’ to be a Nigger and want to jump on this bandwagon of ignorance. Take for instance – when you hear the phrase ‘big booty bi****s’, what’s the first thing that pops into your mind? Black women, right? And when you think of guns and drug dealing, what comes to mind instantly? Black people, right?

We as black people have a responsibility to not conform to these stereotypes. Before anyone else can realise that the value of a black life is of equal value as that of a white life, we must first show that we ourselves value our lives and refuse to be Niggers. Today we live in a society which labels doing the right thing as being a ‘sissy’ and ‘wimpy’, yet doing the wrong thing is classed as being a ‘real Nigger’. Well, one can only imagine what that means.

These issues within our community need to be addressed, and it is such a shame that the majority of black role models our children idolise promote the very things that are poison to the community. We focus on listening to Mr Chris Brown chanting “these h**s ain’t loyal” and we think that is the problem, when in actual fact the problem should really be why these sisters are ‘h**s’ in the first place and not doctors and teachers. Well, how can they aspire to be doctors and teachers when they see Nicki Minaj telling them that it’s ‘cool’ to be a ‘bad bi***’ and it’s ‘cool’ to be sexually exploited for financial gain. I am not a hater, I just see a problem in the black community, and it’s mainly a mental problem. These are real problems affecting the black community. Only a Nigger would think that aspiring to be a doctor/architect/surgeon is for ‘punks’ and trafficking drugs and shooting another black person is for ‘real Niggers’.

I do not deny that there are a lot of black people who have positive aspirations and are working hard to not be Niggers, but there could be more. Why do these black figures like Lil Wayne and Rick Ross not glorify going to school and getting an education? We as black people should refuse to be Niggers, because Niggers do not have a future. Niggers are inferior and Niggers belong nowhere else except the cotton fields. They say charity begins at home, and it is up to us as a people to search ourselves and realise that we were not destined to be the Niggers that ignorant racists think we are. You are better than that brother! You are better than that sister! Only a Nigger would think being a Nigger is ‘cool’ – an emancipated black person wouldn’t.

Please note: the use of the word ‘Nigger’ in this post is used sarcastically and for the purpose of emphasis only. As stated in my previous post, I retain my anti-Nigger stance.

Incorrect and absurd. He was shot dead for *actually* – not “apparently” – trying to beat a man to death who had done nothing more than observe him. Your race-baiting is among the worst I’ve ever seen, and you should really be ashamed of yourself.

But what ever do you mean by my race-baiting, Sir? Are you referring to Trayvon Martin when you say that he was shot dead for **actually**? So lets assume that your version of what occurred is precise, and Trayvon tried beating someone to death, why then did Mr Zimmerman choose to keep following him even after being told by the police to leave it to them and stop following him? He was unarmed, and if they did actually get into a physical altercation (which I don’t believe) why then did Mr Zimmerman not fire some sort of warning shot, instead of conciously firing to kill? I am not saying Trayvon was a saint, but what I am saying is that if you are correct that he wanted to beat someone for simply observing him, then you have reinforced what I said about black people examining ourselves first and stopping this whole ‘street cred’ poison.

Note, for the record, that barring your horrific racialization of the Martin incident (which is COMPLETELY different from the other two you list), I agree with literally every other word of your article. if you get over your Al-Sharpton-induced misplaced hate for self-defense and drop the bit about Trayvon, this article would be epic. IMHO…

Thank you for the pointers, and coming from you it does mean a lot as I am very aware that you are concious, regardless of our differing opinions most times. I understand what you mean, however I am not so sure the case of Martin/Zimmerman was one of self-defense. I am actually not an Al Sharpton sympathiser due to some of his views, in particular the fact that he agrees with the view that the black man is God. So no, I haven’t got a Sharpton-induced hate for self defence. I presume that you are pro-self-defense, and if so, how do you think things would have turned out if Michael Brown or the person he was with had shot the police officer in an act of ‘self defense’? It is a never-ending cycle and I really don’t think self-defense is necessarily the answer.

I appreciate the kudos, and the feeling is mutual – you’re clearly a thinking person. Which is why it’s all the more frustrating when you spout the racially-driven “party-line”! To me, the events you talk about here are about people, not “ni*gers.” The police are a horrific, unaccountable organization. Yes, it disproportionately affects people of color, but this is NOT a racial problem. A great example of “white privilege” being affected by the same evil can be found here, and it is not an isolated incident:

        http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/08/what-i-did-after-police-killed-my-son-110038.html#.U_H9y6PD-Um

I believe that police should be held to the same standards as any other citizens – particularly when the choice to use force in self-defense is concerned. A good example is the case (link below) where an off duty out-of-state officer shot a citizen over a road rage incident. I’m pretty confident – given the material evidence – that he was in the right despite some people’s claims to the contrary. I can imagine myself reacting similarly, and given the blog that started this conversation, I feel it’s material to point out that the shooter in this case was black, and the victim white. I also feel it necessary to point out that there is no outrage in the “white community” over this killing, and this unarmed aggressor hadn’t even laid a hand on the shooter when the bullets started flying.

Regarding Mike Brown, I’m fairly sure that nothing could have saved him. I mean, yeah, if he’d have bent over and licked the boots of his oppressor then that would have been fine, but then they’d only be back for more boot licking. I hope that they sort out the story of how it went down and it’s so cut and dried that Brown ends up being the martyr that destroys our current system of corrupt “police work.” At least then he will not have died in vain. If it turns out that he was a stupid kid who actually attacked the police officer in his car for no good reason except to try to be a bad ass, I’m going to be very disappointed – even more disappointed than I was when idiot ghetto trash squandered the support of half the country when they started burning and looting their own town like a bunch of heathens.

Regardless, I think you’re wrong on the Martin thing. It doesn’t matter what a 911 dispatcher told Zimmerman. And it doesn’t matter that Zimmerman followed him as that action isn’t inherently aggressive. Based on all available evidence, Martin started the altercation that led to his death. Zimmerman had the wounds to show for it. The 911 tape, the testimony – *everything* points to Zimmerman’s account being accurate. That you believe anything other than that is rooted, literally, in *pure* conjecture. It is based on *no* verifiable reality of any kind. You’re literally fabricating imagined circumstances out of thin air to justify the racially charged outrage about a man who made a bad choice that cost him his life. I just don’t get it.

Interesting point to note; WordPress would not let me post here because my post contained the word “ni*gers,” originally unedited. Did you have to show them your “black card” before it was allowed or something? 😉

I quote you – “Yes, it disproportionately affects people of color, but this is NOT a racial problem.” – you have pretty much reinforced my argument. I did not state that the police are not corrupt. They are corrupt, forceful and aggressive, but this DISPROPORTIONATELY affects people of colour. That right there is a racial issue. With regards to the Martin/Zimmerman incident – it is Zimmerman’s word against a dead kid’s. I am not fabricating or imagining things but simply applying logic, and logic says if someone is following another, the ‘follower’ must the the one posing a threat, otherwise why would the ‘followed’ be walking away? I am rather disappointed that you concluded that Zimmerman’s apparent wounds were inflicted by Martin – did you by any chance view the incident on film, or are you simply taking his word for it without stopping to realise other possibilities? The fact that he FOLLOWED Martin even after being told not to do so, shows that he was deliberately looking for an altercation and this blatantly questions his ‘self-defence’ story. Why would a person being accused of murder come out and say “yes, I murdered him in cold blood”, when he could simply claim that he was attacked and had to defend himself. I mean, Martin isn’t there to give us his version of events.

Also, if I am not mistaken, I believe there has been new evidence which shows that Mike Brown was shot in a position of surrender as the injuries he suffered are consistent with this.

**I am rather pleased that my “black card” seems to be working just fine. It was a test, and boy am I glad WordPress passed it, so now I can use it on other sites** 😀

Sorry for the delayed response – I haven’t been present on wordpress for a while. So lets analyze two points.

        1) You assert that is something disproportionately affects a minority group it is inherently a “racial problem.” I’m not sure how to explain that this is not logical other than to state it outright. It is fallacious. Statistics are not an accurate predictor of an individual’s behavior. If they were, stereotypes would be reasonable opinions to hold. The Asian who lurks over a black person in her store would be justified in doing so. But it is not logical to assume that just because the majority of thefts are perpetrated by black people, black people are more likely to be thieves. It’s a non-logical assertion. Similarly, it is non-logical to assume that any statistical evidence of racial bias lends itself to a blanket statement about white people or any other group. I further suspect that the real victim here is *poor people*, and that black people are disproportionately represented because black people as are disproportionately less affluent on average.

        2) Regarding Zimmerman, how can you fail to accept that following someone at a safe distance is not an act of aggression? It’s just that simple. Even if Zimmerman was barking at Martin, or following him at twenty paces, if he had made no assault then Martin had no justification to attack him. Once Martin made the interaction physical and Zimmerman started to fear for his life (a turn of events which is supported by the 9-11 recording and which I have no logical reason to deny), he was completely justified in defending himself.

I also find it somewhat hysterical that you would call my acceptance of the court-based incident details into question, when “your version” of the incident is based entirely on what-ifs and fabrications. True, there is only one side to the story being told (if you completely overlook the 9-11 tapes and various other bits of objective information available), but to flagrantly create a story out of thin air and use that to chastise a man who appears to have been fighting for his life is a little absurd, don’t you think?
